The excitement is building for the 141st running of The Kentucky Derby. We are thrilled to be even a small part of such an eventful day. Our Triple Crown silks will be aboard “Frosted” owned by Godolphin Racing. Also, watch for us throughout the day on NBC News. WAVE3 TV invited us for an interview for their morning show and NBC News stopped by the studio to interview us also. Thanks so much to all our clients, we appreciate each and every one of you. 140th Running of the Kentucky Derby

We are so honored to be a part of the Kentucky Derby even in such a small way.  We are pleased to have one of our silks worn by  Joe Rocco Jr., the jockey for Vinceremos.  We have made 8 sets of silks for Twin Creeks Racing and they have been an absolute pleasure to deal with.  Thank you Kim and Randy Gullat for the opportunity.  We will be rooting for #9 in those beautiful lime green silks with chocolate diamonds.  Mmmm, love the sound of chocolate in any context!  Best of luck!

Strode Station Kindergarden Kentucky Derby

admin : May 3, 2014 3:25 pm : TCS Blog

Yesterday I had such a blast with the Kindergarteners at Strode Station Elementary, Winchester, KY.  They were having their annual Kentucky Derby celebration and their own version of the Kentucky Derby.  They were gracious enough to invite us along for the party and to let us tell them a little about what goes into making jockey silks. We talked about the importance of wearing a helmet and how God gave them a beautiful head and brain and how they should protect those gifts.  Their Derby was complete with the Twin Spires Grand Stand, the garland of roses, a dirt track with over 120 horses and each of the 120 children designed their own jockey silks.   I was honored to watch them race around their track holding their handmade stick horses.  They were such a joy to watch, giggling and running as fast as they could.  I want especially to thank the teachers for what a wonderful job they are doing with the children, even though there were 120+ children, they all sat and listened in a respectful quiet manner.  No small feat for that many Kindergarten children.  It was truly a blessing for me to interact with everyone.  I would also like to thank the teachers and staff for exposing the children to such a rich part of Kentucky’s history, I think they had just as much fun as the children.  The teachers each donned their own version of a Kentucky Derby hat which were quite impressive. Thank you, Strode Station Kindergarten and Teresa Cowan. Pictures attached.

139th Kentucky Derby

admin : May 4, 2013 12:55 pm : TCS Blog

Sooo many favorites its hard to choose.  Overananlyze owned by Michael Repole, being a New York native myself. Itsmyluckyday trained by Edward Plesa Jr and ridden by Elvis Trujillo, Orb trained by Claude McGaughey III and ridden by one of my favorite jockeys, Joel Rosario. Normandy Invasion also ridden by one of our favorite jockeys, J Castellano. Normandy Invasion is owned by Fox Hill Farms.  Also, Java’s War ridden by Victor Lebon and trained by one of our favorite trainers, Kenny McPeek. Charming Kitten, trained by Todd Pletcher and Revolutionary owned by WinStar Farm. Too many to choose from. We here at Triple Crown Silks have a very scientific method for picking who we think may win.  We look at the silks, see which one/s we have made and then choose our favorite from those. Good luck to everyone today and God Bless!
